Come to the table with us to let management know that we will not back down until our contract guarantees:
A strong RN voice in staffing, patient care, and clinical practice
Raises retroactive to 2022
No requirements to perform ancillary duties on a regular basis
Fair compensation for our senior nurses
Additional support staff
Staffing ratios based on acuity
Our fight for a fair contract is far from over!
After being hailed as “healthcare heroes” during the pandemic, we saw Clara Maass Medical Center (CMMC) management ignore our concerns about unsafe staffing and our working conditions. So, we came together as nurses to form a union with 1199SEIU and win a real voice in our workplace.
Collective bargaining started in Fall 2022, and we knew we had to stand together to achieve fair wages, a voice in staffing, and respect. Ironically known for its philanthropy and public health advocacy, RWJBarnabas Health, the largest employer in New Jersey, has repeatedly tried to extract concessions from us — healthcare workers at a community hospital!
CMMC has invoked extremist management rights clauses that deny us appropriate wages, job security, and the ability to provide quality care to our community. We have spent the lion's share of our careers caring for our communities at CMMC. Instead of recognizing our loyalty and experience, CMMC is not playing fair.
We were able to get CMMC to back off on the management clause for the wage scale. However, CMMC has refused to give us retro pay and the salary increases that the other RWJBarnabas nurses received last fall, disrespecting the same “healthcare heroes” they banged on pots and pans for during the pandemic in the halls of our hospital.
Our contract is our future. We must continue to stand united to ensure that CMMC recognizes our worth as essential partners in providing quality care. We, the nurses, will not give up until we win a contract that respects us, staffs us, pays us, and protects us!
